The last poll on how to do open threads was tied between one with multiple premade categories and one without. Generally, it feels like there have been more responses to open threads with premade categories, so I'm going back to that, with a slight change: two categories, one for fanfic and one for everything else. The poll might be re-run when there will be more than five respondents total.

We could consider each of these projects as an extension of the personal power and ambition of remarkable people. This is an entirely valid way to look at things - as much as I despise Great Man Theory in real life, it’s often a good starting point for inquiry, and individuals in Pale often can be more powerful than entire swathes of the population. How each state building project reflects the individual heading it could be multiple essays, even. I don’t think however that it’s a good answer for why we’re seeing state building in particular, though. Ambitious people have existed before, yet at story start, Ontario’s paranormal community is still anarchic.

Martinus stays an akita for the rest of the month as he and Lucy defend Kennet. And then the next month, through the fights with Musser's and Charles' forces. They call out commands and enemy movements, true partners in the fight, urging each other ever onwards. Martinus experiments with erupting out of glamour clouds and wrestling with an opponent’s daemon to gain Lucy an advantage. When necessary, he attacks humans and Others directly. The pain of a daemon and human making violent contact never goes away, but Lucy gets better at withstanding it.

From fist in the air (and her head in the sand). This one was interesting to do with another person involved.
