Open Thread #4 - actually on the first Friday of the month

Open from Aug 4 to Aug 17.

As I have said earlier, right now a lot of things are in experiment mode. How do you all feel about the threaded comment features being used to split discussion into Otherverse serials talk, fanfic talk, and general? Right now, all the thread posts are being created manually the day of, but it is possible to automate them by sending in scheduled emails with formatting. Comments cannot be posted automatically ahead of time like that.

Always a pleasant time to write something out and then find that information is contradicted by canon in multiple different ways. Back to the drawing board...

Oof. That's why I'm not even considering writing anything set after Pale right now or heavily reliant on characters that Wildbow might add more information about, like the Belangers.

Yuletide 2023 is happening soon, for anybody who wants to get more involved in metafandom fic exchanges.

Yuletide is an annual event run through Ao3, where each person makes a request for a fic with at least 1000 words, with the characters of their choice, in a small fandom that has less than 1000 unique works in it on Ao3. People are matched so that everybody writes a fic requested by someone else and gets a fic based on their request. Pact text, Pale text, and Twig text are all eligible. Participants have between October and December to write the fic.

In other words, you can potentially make people write more Reid Musser or Charles Abrams, for those who like that sort of thing.
